BASKETBALL CAREER SIMULATOR

Create a player in an NBA career simulator.

Choose your position, enter draft night and guide one created player from the development years to retirement. Build your NBA career through season decisions, team moves and playoff runs, with progress saved in this browser.

01 / CREATE

Create your own basketball player

Set a name, jersey number, country and one of five positions: point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward or center.

02 / SIMULATE

Play through NBA seasons

Simulate two-season chapters with an NBA-style 82-game schedule, East and West standings, a simplified Play-In and best-of-seven playoff rounds.

03 / LEGACY

Retire with a complete career history

Review the season log and career totals. The optional share card summarizes selected statistics, teams and honors; it is not a copy of every season record.

04 / CONSEQUENCES

Make decisions that change the simulation

Development, contracts, injury risk, trades and loyalty change the model’s inputs. Outcomes depend on those choices and the run’s seed; a bigger contract is not a guarantee of a better career or score.

Simulation scope: NBA is the available Career league. You guide a fictional player through career choices rather than controlling an athlete on the court. Ratings, contracts, injuries, statistics, awards and standings are model-generated, not live roster data or forecasts. The Aurora Academy League is fictional, and the career routes do not reproduce the real draft or contract rulebook. See our simulation and source policy.

Can I continue my saved NBA career, and what does My Careers keep?

The active NBA career saves automatically in this browser when local storage is available. Return to the Career menu to continue it. Finishing setup for a new run replaces that active save; there are not ten separate resumable career slots.

My Careers keeps compact summaries of your last 10 completed NBA careers, newest first, and lets you compare up to two. A completed summary cannot be resumed as an active run. For example, finishing an eleventh career replaces the oldest summary, not all ten. Starting another run keeps those completed summaries.

Progress and archives do not sync between devices. Clearing site data removes local progress, the archive and the browser’s anonymous profile. If storage is blocked, play can continue for the current visit but persistence is not guaranteed. This does not delete a result already sent to the global Hall; use Contact for a public-result removal request.

What decisions affect the career, and does a Play-In place guarantee playoffs?

Development, contracts, team offers, trades and personal risk choices can change role, production, team success and availability. A new run has a new seed; resuming the saved run keeps its existing history rather than generating a fresh career.

The NBA Play-In uses conference seeds 7–10 to decide the final two playoff places; see the NBA format guide, checked . This game uses a simplified probability model, not the real tournament’s game-by-game bracket.

Teaching example: a simulated tenth-place team enters the Play-In check but can still be eliminated. That career’s season history, not its seed alone, tells you whether it advanced. This explains the game model, not a real team’s odds or a forecast.

How long does a simulated basketball career last?

The run has 12 decisions. A non-retirement choice simulates two seasons, giving a full run up to 24 seasons. Choosing Walk away at the peak in the final decision skips those last two seasons and ends a 22-season run.

The Academy route starts at 17; College and International start at 18. These are fictional route settings, not real draft eligibility. The game advances by career chapters, not by playing every possession or by following a live NBA calendar.

How is Legacy Score calculated?

Legacy Score is this game’s 1–100 career rating. The current model combines peak OVR, seasons completed, championships, awards/selections and story factors such as fame, loyalty and legacy. Caps stop one component from increasing forever; salary is not a direct scoring component.

Worked model example — hypothetical, not a real player: peak OVR 90 contributes 37.8 points; 24 seasons contribute 15; two championships contribute 10. With 5 achievement points and 4 story points, 71.8 rounds to 72/100. A contract alone does not set that score. My Careers shows the score as earned, and Hall submissions send this Legacy Score as Legacy Points.

Is Career Hall of Fame optional, and can I submit another career?

Yes. After a compatible career finishes, you may close the invitation or choose Submit career with a public nickname. You do not need a high legacy tier or an account to submit, but the server checks the result’s version and consistency. Joining PlayBasket’s list is not induction into the real Basketball Hall of Fame.

Each completed run can be submitted once. Reopening the same submitted result does not create another entry; a newly completed career can be submitted separately. The Career Hall of Fame shows one best compatible result per anonymous player and period, so a lower later score need not replace your best. This Month uses the UTC career completion date, not the submission month.

The nickname and submitted career summary become public. The full local playable save is not uploaded or restored by the Hall, and it does not replace My Careers. See Privacy for what is stored. Account-based identity recovery and cloud saves are not provided.
